Little Notes Music School Testimonials
Little Notes for Little Fingers

When my grandson was four years old, I reached out to the Music Den in Randolph for a recommendation for a piano teacher for my grandson. Without hesitation, they recommended Andrea Valcuha, owner of the Little Notes music program. In addition to her musical talents, she has the knowledge, patience and temperament to work with young children. Andrea also has a sense of humor and she creates a warm environment, which fosters individuality and creativity. In addition to work on the piano, Andrea also helps young children learn piano notes and improve fine motor skills through workbook activities. My grandson loves “Miss Andrea” and loves learning to play the piano. We are so pleased with his development and attribute his progress to his work with Andrea.

My daughters have been attending the Little Notes Music School for over (2 or 3) years. They have both grown in their love of music, knowledge of music theory and ability to play their instruments. This past summer we participated in the exchange program with Slovakian music students. We traveled to Slovakia and played various venues. The trip ended with a beautiful concert in a castle!!! My cellist has grown to love her instrument and has began practicing and taking her music seriously. My violist has played at Carnigie Hall, got a second audition from the Julliard MAP program and was admitted into the North New Jersey Junior Regions program. My children have not only learned to play their instruments better, they have gained an inner confidence that only comes from a teacher who is supportive, knowledgeable, and loves music herself. Thank you Miss Andrea for the best music experiences ever. We love Little Notes Music School!!

Ms. Andrea is kind, caring, patient, and an amazing piano instructor! My son has attended Little Notes for 3 years now. He has grown so much under Ms. Andrea's care not only in his piano ability but his confidence level. She always has a smile on her face and is warm, welcoming and extremely talented! Ms. Andrea and Little Notes Music School are the best!

My three children have been taking voice (and, for one of them, piano) lessons at Little Notes for several years. Since she began her lessons, my 14-year-old has been selected to perform solos at several school choir concerts, and been cast in three school musicals and four community theater musicals. When my autistic 12-year-old began lessons at 8, he cried instead of singing, but his teachers at Little Notes remained patient and encouraging, and he has now performed in several recitals and sung a solo at his school's holiday program. My 10-year-old has been able to pursue his love of singing doowop and classic rock, and has earned compliments about his voice auditions at theater camp every summer. Ms. Amalia is our favorite voice teacher! She is kind, she has a wonderful sense of humor, and she is a gifted accompanist. With her experience as a performer, she also knows how to nudge kids out of their comfort zones, and to get a smoother and more expressive performance out of kids than they knew they were capable of giving. My daughter has also made excellent progress as a pianist with Amalia's help.

Don’t be fooled by the name, “Little” Notes. There is absolutely nothing “Little” about it. The Little Notes Music School is a place that embraces all who have a passion for music, both the young and the not so young. I know because I have been a student there myself—in the “not so young” category. Whether it be strings, piano, or vocals, the instructors there possess the ability to uncover the gift that is within our children and teach them how to share that gift with others.

Our two daughters were part of the Little Notes family since they were in fourth grade. My older daughter, violinist, is now a freshman in college! Miss Andrea, as we affectionately call her, has not only been her private instructor, but a mentor and a friend to her throughout her musical career. While receiving instruction from Little Notes, she was promoted to principal player, second violinists, in her high school orchestra, and is now a member of her University’s Symphony’s Orchestra.

Our second daughter, cellist, now in eighth grade, also studied with Miss Andrea, and under her instruction won first place in the Crescendo International Competitions, giving her the opportunity to play solo at Carnegie Hall! She has since graduated Little Notes to study in the Music Advancement Program at The Juilliard School.

We could have accomplished none of this without our active involvement at Little Notes Music School, and I believe it has also contributed to our daughters’ discipline and great academic achievement in school. Miss Andrea doesn’t just teach music, she imparts certain life principles that our daughters can live by as they journey through everyday life. I have personally observed her passion for and commitment not only to her work, but also to our children; and this passion has greatly enhanced not only our personal musical experience throughout the years, but it has had a very positive impact on our lives as well.

My daughter has been taking piano lessons at Little Notes for three years. Her teacher is Miss Amalia. Miss Amalia's love of music is evident in the way she works with my daughter to help her to put emotion and feeling into her songs. I love listening to my daughter's lesson and seeing her progression over the years. My daughter loves doing duets with Miss Amalia. She teaches my daughter how to make her music beautiful by putting her passion into it!
